Mel Prest at IS Projects
Mel Prest a Californian artist is visiting IS Projects in Holland. Mel has regularly shown with the Gregory Lind gallery in San Francisco. IS Projects are running an open exhibition whereby they are inviting the artists to bring along one work on Monday June 13th from 17.00 onwards. They have little idea of what work will arrive and you can join them to see what the artists bring to install.

Are the orange colours there on the canvas or are they created optically?
ReplyDeleteHi Andy,
ReplyDeleteMel informs us that: "In that work there is a subtle gradient from unbleached titanium to a little bit of burnt sienna on the panel. To see it in person there is some green striation that appears as an illusion."
Thanks for the info, you can see something of the green even in the reproduction I think. This looks like wonderful work. A shame San Francisco is such a long way from Nottingham!
ReplyDeleteIf things go to plan perhaps we can get Mel to show here at some point.
