Abstraction wins the Turner Prize 2009

The painter Richard Wright, who creates ephemeral abstract paintings, drawings and designs wins the Turner Prize 2009 today. Is this ushering in a more subtle and deeper understanding of the role abstraction can play in contemporary art and culture?
